Job Description

The Hotel Housekeeper is responsible for ensuring that guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are clean, tidy, and well-maintained. This role requires attention to detail, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work efficiently and independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Guest Room Cleaning:
    • Clean and sanitize guest rooms, including making beds, changing linens, dusting, vacuuming, and cleaning bathrooms.
    • Replenish guest room supplies, such as toiletries, towels, and beverages.
    • Ensure that all furniture, fixtures, and appliances are clean and in good working condition.
    • Report any maintenance issues or damages to the housekeeping supervisor.
  2. Public Area Cleaning:
    • Clean and maintain public areas of the hotel, such as lobbies, hallways, elevators, and restrooms.
    • Ensure that public areas are free of trash, dust, and debris.
    • Polish and clean fixtures, mirrors, and surfaces in public areas.
  3. Laundry Duties:
    • Collect, sort, and transport linens and towels to the laundry area.
    • Operate laundry machines and equipment to wash, dry, and fold linens and towels.
    • Ensure that clean linens are properly stored and distributed to guest rooms and other areas as needed.
  4. Stock and Supply Management:
    • Monitor and restock cleaning supplies, toiletries, and other housekeeping items.
    • Maintain an inventory of housekeeping supplies and report shortages to the housekeeping supervisor.
    • Organize and maintain housekeeping carts and storage areas.
  5. Customer Interaction:
    • Greet guests and respond to their requests promptly and courteously.
    • Provide information and assistance to guests as needed.
    • Ensure a positive and welcoming experience for guests by maintaining a high standard of cleanliness and service.
  6. Adherence to Standards:
    • Follow hotel policies and procedures, including health and safety regulations.
    • Adhere to the hotel’s cleaning and sanitation standards to ensure a safe and comfortable environment for guests.
    • Participate in training sessions and meetings to stay updated on housekeeping practices and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping or a similar role is an advantage.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks, such as lifting and bending.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including weekends and holidays.
