Job Description

The Restaurant Captain is responsible for supervising the dining area, coordinating the waitstaff, and ensuring a seamless dining experience for guests. This role requires strong leadership skills, exceptional customer service, and the ability to handle various tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Supervision and Coordination:
    • Oversee the daily operations of the dining area and ensure smooth service.
    • Assign duties to the waitstaff and monitor their performance.
    • Coordinate with the kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate delivery of orders.
  2. Customer Service:
    • Greet and welcome guests, escort them to their tables, and present menus.
    • Address guest inquiries, take orders, and make recommendations based on customer preferences.
    • Ensure that guests receive prompt and courteous service throughout their dining experience.
    • Handle special requests, dietary requirements, and any complaints or issues that arise.
  3. Order Management:
    • Ensure that orders are accurately taken and relayed to the kitchen staff.
    • Monitor the progress of orders and ensure they are served promptly.
    • Oversee table settings, ensure that tables are set correctly, and maintain the cleanliness of the dining area.
  4. Training and Development:
    • Train new waitstaff and provide ongoing training to existing staff on service standards and procedures.
    • Conduct regular briefings with the waitstaff to discuss service improvements and address any issues.
    • Lead by example and motivate the team to deliver exceptional service.
  5. Quality Control:
    • Monitor the quality of food and beverages served to guests.
    • Ensure that all dishes meet the restaurant’s presentation and quality standards.
    • Conduct regular inspections of the dining area to ensure it meets health and safety regulations.
  6. Administrative Duties:
    • Maintain accurate records of reservations, guest preferences, and any special requests.
    • Assist with inventory management and order supplies as needed.
    • Prepare reports on service performance and guest feedback for management review.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience as a waiter/waitress with a strong track record of providing excellent customer service.
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in supervising a team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a customer-focused attitude.
  • Flexibility to work shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
