Job Description
An F&B (Food and Beverage) Captain, often referred to as a Dining Room Captain, plays a key role in managing the dining experience in a restaurant, hotel, or any other food service establishment. Here are some of their primary responsibilities:
- Supervising Staff: Overseeing servers, bartenders, and other front-of-house staff to ensure they provide excellent service. Conducting briefings and training sessions to keep the team informed and prepared.
- Managing Service: Coordinating the service flow in the dining room, including greeting guests, taking orders, and ensuring that meals are delivered in a timely and efficient manner.
- Guest Interaction: Building relationships with guests, addressing any complaints or concerns, and ensuring that their dining experience is enjoyable and memorable.
- Quality Control: Checking the presentation and quality of dishes before they are served to guests. Ensuring that all service standards and procedures are followed.
- Sales and Upselling: Recommending menu items, wine pairings, and special promotions to enhance the guest experience and increase sales.
- Event Coordination: Assisting with the planning and execution of special events, such as banquets, weddings, and corporate functions.
- Administrative Duties: Handling reservations, managing the seating plan, and maintaining accurate records of guest preferences and feedback.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring and managing inventory levels of dining room supplies, such as linens, cutlery, and glassware.
F&B Captains need strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills. They should be able to multitask, handle pressure, and have a keen eye for detail to ensure that guests have a seamless and enjoyable dining experience.
